As you may have noticed by the headline up there that this isn't a movie review, instead it's a plug for something a certain cinema I regular frequent is doing.
If you've been a regular reader of my blog, and I really do appreciate you taking time away from your busy web surfing schedule to visit mine, then you know that I am particular to visiting a certain multiplex cinema franchise here in Malaysia. I'm talking about TGV Cinemas. To me they have the most comfortable seats and layouts for movie watching in town. That and the fact that they have the only IMAX screens in town but they also have halls where you sit or lie down on big beanie bags in their Beanie halls and have the best premiere service cinema in town in the form of their one and only Indulge Hall. But those are primarily for adults. Although kids can sit comfortably in any of their halls, sometimes two to a seat, it's usually not catered for them. And we all know how annoying it can get when you end up sitting next to a whiny child.
But to remedy all that and help parents have a fun day out at the movies instead of a trying time, TGV started something called the Family Friendly sessions. These are sessions where kids are the ones they're trying to please and not the adults. Well, parents too I guess but with parents as long as the kids are happy they're happy, right? Anyway, these sessions started at their 1 Utama branch where kids below 12 were only charged RM5 (that's a little over USD $1) and kids under three got in free. Adults had to pay RM10 which is a little over USD$2. The halls weren't completely blacked out during showtime and the kids were allowed to run around and scream and get excited and play with each other if they wanted to. They also made available diaper changing stations inside the hall.
It was an immediate hit with parents with young kids. Now they could take their kids out to the movies on a weekend and not worry about the hassle of keeping the kids quiet or making them stop fidgeting or about annoying and bothering the other people in the hall.
So now on to the thing I'm helping them share the news about.
They are now expanding this fun little concept to even more cinemas! It'll be available soon in five brand spanking new TGV Cinemas! Family Friendly Sessions will soon be available in AEON Tebrau City, AEON Bukit Indah, AEON Kulaijaya, Mesra Mall and Seremban 2.
So if you're looking to do something with your little ones this weekend be sure to head on to TGV.com.my to see if they have a family friendly session playing near you. I mean what better way to spend time with your kids than in a big hall filled with other little kids watching something that will get them excited? It sure as heck can't be having them run around wild in a packed mall full of strangers, right?
By the way here's the press release detailing everything.
