So maybe this isn't like the other superhero movies. This guys parents doesn't die nor does he experience a tragic lost. He just gets duped into being a superhero. ©Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

This will be a super short review...

This post was supposed to come out the same day I saw Ant-Man which was on the 15th of July but unfortunately for this blog I had to catch a flight early the next day for a 10 day trip and was busy making sure that night that I had everything ready for the trip. Once the trip was over I got caught up in some work and didn't have the time and wasn't in the right frame of mind.

Anyway by now most of you will have seen this movie and those that haven't probably won't be bothered to watch it till curiosity gets the best of you and even then you'll probably have heard all about it from the people that have seen it. So for those of you who have seen it I'm guessing you enjoyed. I did too.

Not that many heroes try out their superhero outfits in the bathroom while standing in the tub. That's pretty original. Trust Edgar Wright to do stuff like that. ©Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

What I liked.
1) Paul Rudd, very good as Scott Lang. Fits the reluctant hero very well. Reminds of Mark Ruffalo in his discomfort as the Hulk.

2) Michael Douglas, was also good.

3) Evangeline Lilly, was not bad and am sort of looking forward to when she dons the Wasp outfit.

4) Michael Peña, was funny and adorable. Loved what they did whenever he would recall/retell how he got his information.

5) Corey Stoll not bad as the bad guy.

6) The visuals/effects. Very cool stuff especially when it goes all micro and they fight which at times gets the laughs along with the wow factor.

7) The story is of course formulaic but not doesn't take itself too seriously as in the Avengers or Captain America or even Thor series. Closer to Guardians of the Galaxy but not quite.

8) The addition of two additional scenes at the credit was a nice little sneak peek at the upcoming movies in the Marvel line-up.

This was fun to watch. I think they should explore more of this in the upcoming Marvel movies. Maybe the next X-Men could take place entirely in the micro-realm. ©Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

Those are what I liked and I did like the movie in general but it doesn't quite feel like a Marvel movie for me. In fact, at times it felt more like a Disney movie that a Marvel movie. This movie feels a little childish at times but that's probably because the ants kept reminding me of that old Disney movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids which also took place in the micro-realm and had a large ant in it which one of the kids befriended. Also the ants in this movie made the same sounds as the one in that old Disney movie.

All in all, it was an enjoyable movie and had quite a lot of easter eggs as well as clues to the upcoming Marvel movies. I'm giving this movie a 3.5 out 5.
