I think there's a rule as to how a Terminator movie has to start and this is one of them ©Paramount Pictures

So another attempt at the Terminator franchise but this time it's a RetCon to the series not a Reboot...

What's a RetCon? Well, it's short for Retroactive Continuity and it's usually used for when movie makers and other creatives want to use established characters and stories but can't for some reason make a sequel to the current narrative without making everyone who loved it or followed go, "Wait? What just happened? That doesn't make sense." Or when, in this case, the follow up to James Cameron's effort in making Terminator part of pop culture and movie history was nowhere near as good as what he did and sort of messed up the storyline enough that a follow up to those two sad efforts would just confuse if not disappoint any fan of the original two. If they weren't already disappointed by them I mean.

MOVIE REVIEW: MINIONS (2015)

3

MOVIE INFO

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters-from T. rex to Napoleon-the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he-alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob-ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award (R) winner Sandra Bullock), the world's first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind...from annihilation. (c) Universal

So another movie with secondary characters from a popular animated movie series...

So yeah, this is the second after last years Penguins of Madagascar movie. As you you know the penguins weren't the main characters in the Madagascar series but were in fact side or secondary characters who's antics provided additional laughs. They were just lucky enough that the audience liked them more than the lemurs otherwise I'm sure we'd have gotten the Lemurs of Madagascar movie instead. But as much fun and cute as the trailer promised the Penguins of Madagascar was going to be when it finally came out it was sort of a disappointment to me. You can read my review of it HERE. I think I said it was too much of a good thing or something along those lines.

MOVIE REVIEW: PARASYTE: PART 2 (2015)

1

So this is going to be a little different than the others...

There's a couple of reasons for this movie review for not looking like the others. First, this movie isn't scheduled for a worldwide release, it's only getting a limited release. Second, because of that a lot of the main movie sites, like the one's I usually take the ratings from, don't have listings or ratings for it yet. In fact, of the two that I usually take from only IMDB has a page for it and here's the ratings for it,

Ratings: 6.5/10 from 107 users
Reviews: write review | 4 critic

There's also the Wikipedia page for it and of course reviews from Anime related sites like OtakuUsaMagazine.com, Kotaku.com and the one exception which was HollywoodReporter.com. Most of the reviews say the same things, share the same sentiments and I'll probably repeat them as well. But, you're probably wondering how come those Anime related sites are the ones reviewing it? Well, this movie and it's previous installment which was released sometime late last year is actually sourced from an Anime which was in turn adapted from a Manga. The Manga was published between 1988 to 1995 and you can read about that here, while the Anime ran from 2014 til spring 2015. I had heard good things about the anime, quite a few websites sing praises about it Kotaku.com being one of them. I myself have yet to see a single episode.

So it's hard to tell what's happening and where everyone's running to or away from. Being chased by dinosaurs will do that. ©Universal

So it's been 22 years since the first one, 18 years since the second one and 14 years since the third but doesn't tie-in with the second and third. Been a dinosaurs age in coming...

Movies with teens always have a school hallway scene and a football scene, right?

Another Teen Movie with Supernatural/Mythical Theme? Aren't we tired of another Twilight already?

Not a sequel but a prequel. How many prequels do you know that turned out to be good?

Okay, so this is the third in the Insidious series and instead of being a sequel it's a prequel. A prequel whose purpose is to introduce us to the character of Elise Rainier the paranormal investigator who appeared in both earlier Insidious movies. Elise Rainier if you remember helped the Lambert family and their paranormal problems in the first movies and then died at the end of it, then in the second installment she appeared to help the Lambert family again but this time from the astral plain she refers to as the Further. If you still can't remember she's the little old lady in the movies. There are no other little ladies in the Insidious series. Unless you're talking about the ghosts.
